Thunderhead Announces Global Expansion,
Strengthens Leadership in Enterprise Communications Software
International tech company opens office doors and hires industry heavyweights Across Europe and Asia Pacific to accelerate growth
Irvine, California, USA - May 8, 2008
Thunderhead, the UK-based enterprise communications company, is driving aggressive expansion by opening four new international offices within the next month. The new offices – in Zurich, Singapore, Canberra and Melbourne – expand Thunderhead’s international reach, adding to its North American offices and Asia-Pacific headquarters in Sydney.
This move follows rapid US growth in 2007, where Thunderhead delivered 75 percent revenue growth. Overall, the company’s revenue increased 70 percent in 2007.
Thunderhead’s Zurich office will be the base for European expansion in the DACH region, which includes Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Robert Hojiemans joins from Business Objects, an SAP company, to lead the office and build on a well-established European customer base. Existing clients from the region include Allianz, BNP, Deutsche Bank, Société Générale and UBS.
The office in Singapore will enable Thunderhead to expand its presence in the ASEAN region, focusing on the banking, insurance and government markets. David Meeker, whose previous experience includes driving sales for Smart Stream in Asia Pacific, will be responsible for developing Thunderhead’s business in this region.
Thunderhead established an office in Sydney in 2006, and now two more offices are being opened in Australia to meet continued demand. John Moran and Peter Coulson have joined from senior positions at Oracle to head up the Canberra and Melbourne offices, respectively. Thunderhead is already widely used in the region, with half the financial loans generated in the country being produced using the Thunderhead NOW platform. Existing clients in Australia include notable organizations such as AMP, ANZ, HBOS, St. George Bank and the Australian Government’s Department of Immigration and Citizenship.
Glen Manchester, CEO of Thunderhead, stated, “We have made the strategic decision to expand in these regions in response to the rapid growth and demand we have experienced. These new offices, and their accompanying senior appointments, will build on our existing momentum in Europe and Asia Pacific. In addition, our base in Singapore will allow us to better support our many international clients who have significant operations in that territory.”
“Communication issues such as personalization, context, immediacy and compliance, and the use of multiple delivery channels, apply across all regions and all industries. In addition, in the age of globalization, organizations need to manage these issues internationally as well, seamlessly addressing both jurisdiction and language differences. Thunderhead NOW enables organizations to meet these challenges.”
Manchester believes this is just the beginning: “My vision is for Thunderhead to build on our position as the market leader in enterprise communications on a truly global basis. These new offices and senior appointments are just one more milestone in the company’s journey.”
